How old do I need to be to rent and drive a street legal golf cart in North Carolina?
You must be 21 years of age and hold a valid drivers license. While North Carolina law states that golf cart drivers only need to be 16 years old and hold a valid driver license to operate a cart, rentals are a bit different. Have you ever rented a car? Just like car rental agencies can’t and don’t rent to anyone under the age of 25, golf cart rental agencies can’t and don’t rent to anyone under the age of 21.

How fast does a street legal golf cart go?
Our carts are street legal and are legally bound to a speed between 20-25 mph and typically range 24-25 mph. That might seem slow, but rest assured, you’ll appreciate how fast it feels to ride in an open air cart.
How far can you travel on one charge?
You can travel between 25-30 miles on a fully charged cart depending on the load. However, the northern beaches of the Outer Banks are only 16 miles long. We don’t suggest taking the cart down the national seashore, since there are no places to charge the cart down there, if you catch our drift.
How long does it take to charge an electric golf cart?
Charging takes approximately 6 hours when the battery is completely drained, so please charge the cart whenever possible. Overnight charging is advised.
How do I charge the cart?
We’re glad you asked! You can find the outlet for charging located underneath the back side of the driver’s seat of the cart. Want to learn more about operating this amazing piece of machinery? Check out the user manual.
Since I’m on vacation, can we drink alcoholic beverages while driving the cart?
No. Drivers and passengers are not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages while the vehicle is operating. The same drinking and driving laws apply when operating a golf cart on North Carolina roads, even though they can only be legally driven on streets with a speed limit of 35 mph or less. Golf cart drivers could be charged with a DWI, driving with open containers or other alcohol-related offenses.
